The Best Nintendo Game Console Ever

When I look back on my childhood I remember the fun days of summer running around with the neighborhood kids and my little 19 inch TV with my brand new SNES attached to it. We would play outside all day and then come in and play video games until we fell asleep. I still have the SNES hooked up to my TV in the game room of my house.

Part of the choice is obviously nostalgic but there is also a draw for others who did not grow up in the age of the SNES. My son has a Wii and instead of playing the plethora of games he has for it I often find him sitting down in his bean bag chair playing Chrono Trigger or Starfox. Some people say that the Wii is the best system ever but I have to disagree on the basis that although the Wii has revolutionized gaming to some degree it also lacks a lot of what made the SNES great. Games. Lots of games with lots of different things to do. It is a lot of fun don't get me wrong. Jumping around smashing the Wii controller this way and that. However there are too many games that are completely controller centric and lack any type of real game play.

Part of the choice is graphics. They are pretty enough and decent enough to play today. Sure the SNES isn't the newest greatest graphics but it clearly outshines the NES in that category. The NES was great in its time and a ton of fun to play but lets be serious some of the NES games graphics were so bad it was hard to figure out what was what. The argument could be made that the N64 and the Wii both have better graphics than the SNES but I feel like the block style graphics of the N64 and the cartoon-y-ness of the Wii take away from those consoles.

The power of the SNES is pretty clear and I would rate it as the best Nintendo Console ever.
