With graphics improving at an incredible rate and the advent of social and interactive gaming, video gaming and video game consoles continue to gain in popularity. Buying a video game console should not be done without careful consideration and several reviews being done.

Everyone wants to know exactly which are the best gaming consoles on the market. Well, much will depend on individual preference as far as what types of games and the style of gaming the person is interested in. There are many factors to consider including game availability, performance, online capabilities, multimedia, and support.

The big 3 gaming consoles are the xBox 360, PS3, and the Nintendo Wii. Not including handheld units, these 3 machines are considered the best gaming consoles on the market at the current time.

The xBox 360 is fantastic for the gamer who likes the social aspect of gaming. The xBox live service is considered to have the best online capability of any console. Another strong point for the 360 is the multimedia capabilities and with the introduction of the Kinect System, Microsoft has something to rival the interactive features of the Wii.

Sony's Playstation 3 got off to a slow start but has now begun to make some traction. The multimedia capabilities rival the xBox 360 and the PS3 also has the fastest graphic processor so the graphics are outstanding. Sony has also just recently released the Sony Move motion controller which is in response to the need for something to rival the Wii.

The Nintendo Wii has the slowest processor out of the 3 consoles so it is not a good choice for people who are looking for strong graphics. But Nintendo set the standard for interactivity with the release of motion controllers and the Wii Fit. This set the standard for user interaction.
