Will the Notion Ink Adam Sales Exceed iPad Sales

As with most things, success is sure to breed imitation, with the new Apple iPad having sold well over two million units in the short time since it was launched this was simply an inevitability. At the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show there were no less than a dozen iPad like devices shown.



One of the more intriguing prototypes was the Notion Ink Adam, a device very similar to an iPad but with innovations and extras not seen on Apple's new flagship. The Adam tablet is an Android powered machine sporting a 10.1 inch screen making use of Pixel Qi's dual mode technology that allows switching from full color to epaper mode at the touch of a button. The Adam has a built-in web cam, something iPad buyers were disappointed to find missing on the Apple product. Notion has also opted to place a touch pad on the back of the device allowing the user to manipulate the cursor and other screen items without interfering with the screen.



The Notion Ink Adam also boasts longer battery life than the iPad, the developers claim up 24 hours of continuous use in epaper mode, as well as a screen that adjusts to the surrounding light conditions to allow easier screen viewing in shadow or direct sunlight.



The Notion Ink Adam has created a lot of buzz among the tech savvy and appears to be a device that is innovative and well thought out. While the iPad has been a tremendous success so far, already competitors are rushing to fill the new niche created by Steve Jobs with a flood of tablet devices in development or preparing to come to market.



The Notion Ink Adam is scheduled for a Q3 2010 release and a price has not yet been announced. The Adam has the potential to be a strong competitor to the iPad by offering innovation and features many people where hoping to find on the iPad. If the Notion Ink Adam comes to market with a competitive price point look for it to be a strong player in the fledgling tablet PC wars.
