Nintendo Wii vs. Sony Move

| Jul 7th, 2010 | by EditorLook out Nintendo, Sony has announced its plans to go head to head with you. Sony has just released information on their newest game system called Move. It’s their version of the wii. There are several similarities and several differences between the two.
The wii has one distinct advantage. It’s on the market already and has built its name and reputation. Sony’s Move is targeting a release during the Holiday season this year. For those that do Christmas shopping early, their money will be long gone by the time the Move hits the scene. Not to mention, new products are usually pricey when first hitting the market. This is in comparison to products that have been on the market and are now on sale for the holidays.
Both systems have hand controllers with lanyards on them. The wii has a nunchuck, while the Move has the sub-controller. The sub-controller is already being billed as more complicated that the nunchuck. The Move hand controller has a ball shaped orb on the end of the controller that lights up.
The wii and the Move are motion sensitive and can sense movement. The wii senses movement through the sensor bar while the Move tracks exact location through the PlayStation Eye. The wii requires exaggerated movements or flicks to perform actions. The Move requires more exact movement and full range motions to perform actions. The movements the Move requires make it feel more real.
The biggest struggle the Move will face is an impatient audience. Sony is known for missing their projected deadlines. Add that to the fact that since the wii is already on the market, the public expects companies to learn from any “bugs” that Nintendo had and present a perfect product. Society wants that instant gratification with any glitches or needless upgrades to fix things. The Move will have some mighty big shoes to fill if it wants to seriously compete with the wii.
