The iPhone 4G, was announced by Apple last month and could be the most successful iPhone ever according to industry experts in the cellular telephone and wireless device markets. The iPhone 4G has already garnered over 600,000 pre-orders from eager customers, making it the most successful release for a web-enabled phone ever.

Vodafone, T-Mobile, AT&T and Virgin Mobile have announced that they will make the iPhone 4G available as soon as they are released. Industry analysts are predicting that the new model of iPhone might even increase the prevalence and popularity of video conferences calls.

Even though video conference calls via cell phone were introduced in the US in 2003, video calls have been a seldom used feature even though they are enabled on most cell phones. The debut of the new iPhone 4G's FaceTime application makes switching between rear and forward facing cameras much easier. It may also be a possibility that Apple might develop iPhone applications that will allow a user to make video phone calls to other video enabled devices such as desktop Macs.

The iPhone debuted worldwide in 2007, and has since claimed a significant market share among cell phone users. The iPhone is one of the most popular cell phone models on the market today with upwards of over 50 million units having been sold in Europe and North America alone. The latest announced version of the iPhone boasts a high resolution LCD screen, hours of battery life and the much lauded ability to video chat via a WiFi with the aforementioned FaceTime application. This will be supported by the iPhone 4G's three and a half inch touch screen display, which outputs a 960 × 640 pixel resolution. Apple named it the Retina Display. The display has four times more pixels as the display of the current 3G iPhone.
